Lauren graduated with a BFA of Acting from the University of Alberta in 2021. She is known for her dedication to the process and the joy she brings into the rehearsal hall. On screen Lauren has been awarded Best Actress at the Oniros Film Festival Awards for her upcoming performance in Disguise. Selected acting credits include, The Comedy of Errors (Theatre Calgary), Disguise (FAME Productions), Imperfect Symmetry (Jupiter Theatre), The Birds, Dracula, The Secret In The Wings (Studio Theatre).
Lauren has trained in dance since the age of 3. Selected styles include, Classical RAD ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, ball room, hip hop, and basic tap. She did one year of contemporary dance training at the University of Calgary from 2017-2018, before transferring to the University of Alberta. At U of A Lauren trained with Lin Snelling where I studied improvisation and experiential anatomy for three years. During this time, she also sampled other techniques such as Forsythe, contact, and site-specific improvisation technique. As a creator Lauren is fascinated by exploring how emotional impulses can be expressed through the body to further storytelling. Her creation process is a mixture of devised theatre practise, clown, and dance techniques. Lauren is known for her work combining contemporary dance and Pochinko clown. She has created several works in festivals across Alberta. Selected creation credits include, BREAKing up (Nextfest Festival), Marilyn (Still here), LOST IN CONNECTION (Fluid Fest), theBYSTANDER (Nextfest Festival).
Lauren is an award-winning Pochinko clown artist from Edmonton Alberta. She began her journey at the University of Alberta Lauren trained with Jan Henderson studying Neutral mask, and Michael Kennard studying Pochinko clown. Since the she has continued to pursue clown via online workshops, and mentorship from Michael Kennard. Lauren received a Canada Council Grant to pursue clown at The Manitoulin Conservatory for Creation and Performance but unfortunately due to COVID it has been postponed. Selected clown credits include, Crooked Midnight(University of Alberta), do not DISTURB (Play the fool), Eat it (Independent), aRt (off The Cuff Cabaret).
Lauren has trained in the style of musical theatre since she was 8 years old. She began specializing in singing at the BFA Acting program at the University of Alberta under Kim Mattice Wanat. She can sing in varies styles including, musical theatre, jazz, folk, pop, rock and classical. Since being exposed to singing Lauren has implemented song into her daily practise.
Lauren is a high fashion, runway and commercial published model. She is known for her expressions and posing ability. Selected publications include, Fienfh Magazine, Edith Magazine, and Like A Lion Magazine.
Two years ago, Lauren started Shakespeare’s Hunnies with Eunice Gatama. Shakespeare’s Hunnies is a website and social platform dedicated to supporting and promoting emerging artists. We explore all performance topics, including acting, clowns, dance, singing, music, and theatre/dance/music history. The company’s mission is to create a platform and community for emerging artists to find information and connect with their peers and experts.
